Oyako Don - Japanese savoury melty omelette with Rice

“Donburi” or “Don” is a Japanese word meaning large rice bowls. They are larger than ordinary rice bowls. It is easy to cook and quick to eat! There are so many variations of the "Don" in Japan but this Oyako-Don is the don of dons!
Now you can cook this meal in a microwave, so anyone can make a traditional Japanese flavoursome dish at home.

Ingredients

  • 300 g Steamed Rice
  • 300 g Chicken
  • 2 onion
  • 2 egg

Group A

  • 1 tbsp Soy Sauce
  • 1 tbsp Cooking sake (Alt. White Wine)
  • 1 tbsp Mirin

Instructions

  • Slice onions and cut chicken into bite-size pieces. Place (A) in a microwave safe bowl and mix well. Add onions first and then chicken
    300 g Chicken, 2 onion, 1 tbsp Soy Sauce, 1 tbsp Cooking sake, 1 tbsp Mirin
  • Place cling wrap loosely over and cook in a microwave at 600W for 4 min
    800W > 3 min
    1000W > 2 min 20 secs
  • Take the bowl from the microwave and add beaten egg.

  • Place cling wrap loosely over again and cook in microwave at 600W for 2 min
    800W > 1 min 30 secs
    1000W > 1 min 10 secs
  • Slide the cooked egg onto a warm rice carefully and serve
